Boy Scouts of America in the Three Rivers District present

TOUCH-A-TRUCK

Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Sanford Lions Club Fairgrounds from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM.

What is TOUCH-A-TRUCK?

Children of all ages love big vehicles, but usually they can only see them from a distance. At this event, kids get to be up close to everything from a fire truck to a bull dozer. Not just close, but up in the driver seat! Touch-A-Truck provides a unique opportunity for children to explore vehicles of all types — public service, emergency, utility, construction, transportation, delivery and just plain cool — all in one place! Children will be allowed to touch, climb on and ask questions about their favorite vehicles in a safe, supervised environment. Accompanying personnel will teach the children about the equipment displayed and how these machines help us and our community. Activities and kid-friendly food will be available to make this an entertaining day for the whole family.

WHO CAN ATTEND?

This event is for children of all ages who like trucks and other vehicles. Even very young children seem fascinated with things that go and older kids will enjoy not only getting in the vehicles, but also being able to find out more about the machines and the work they do.

HOW MUCH IS ADMISSION?

The admission will be $3.00 per person (children two and under are free) with a $10.00 maximum per family. We are also trying to fill a truck with non-perishable food for local food pantries and Backpack Pal programs.

WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM THE FUNDS RAISED?

The money will go to help the programs of the Boy Scouts of America which support the activities of Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venture Crews (Scouts ages 6 to 21.)

WHO IS ORGANIZING THE EVENT?

The Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Venture Crews of the Three Rivers District are sponsoring the event. The mission of Scouting is to assist young men and women as they become knowledgeable, thinking, and responsible citizens of their community, nation, and world. The Boy Scouts of America teaches basic skills and knowledge needed to prepare young people to be well rounded individuals with an awareness of leadership, discipline, service, and study.

WHO CAN BRING A VEHICLE TO DISPLAY?

This event relies on the agencies, businesses, and organizations that are willing to bring a vehicle to share. We welcome any vehicle that is accessible to children. All that is required is that each vehicle be attended throughout the event. Businesses and agencies are welcome to include displays or advertisements along with their vehicles. Lunch will be provided for those who are displaying their vehicles. Here's the registration form for displaying vehicles.
